In today's society, nudity is such a common occurrence that we barely notice anymore. We are becoming callous to behaviors that were taboo just a few years ago. Movies portray sex and nudity so often that what would have been pornographic is now rated R. I know an R rating means restricted, but who are we kidding. When is the last time you saw a ticket teller at a movie theatre counter ID a kid that wanted to buy a ticket? Is this what we want our children growing to believe? What are we teaching our younger generation? It is commonplace to see celebrities nude in movies and almost as common to hear about a Brittany nipple slip or a Lindsay wardrobe "malfunction". These are people that the younger generation look up to, and as kids in every generation do, try to imitate. With stars like Vanessa Hudgens taking nude pictures of herself on her cell phone to send to her co star Zac Effron, how can we expect our children as young as ten or twelve to not try and copy that in their own lives? Parents it is time for action!
These children are our responsibility. It is time we censor what they do and what they are exposed to. I understand why parents want to give cell phones to their children. In a time where sexual predators are everywhere it is natural to want that extra access to their kids, but do they really need all the extras that come with the more popular phones? Do they have phones for their safety and well-being or to make a fashion statement? Children do not need camera phones or "I Phones" to surf the web. Children should be supervised in their activities. Parents have gotten lazy. It is too much trouble for parents to check up on their kids. They think that by making sure that their children are being responsible is somehow intruding on the child's privacy. This is ridiculous! Children should be allowed room to grow and make mistakes because that's how they learn. They also need parents to point them in the right direction. Parents need to check cell phone and Internet usage to see that it is being used responsibly. Parents need to check to see that their kids are going where they say and doing what they say.
I picked my title because these are three of the most searched phrases on the Internet. If you found this page using these terms, think about this before you go. Everything that we do or send on our mobile devices is accessible by other people and therefore public. Do you want to find your daughter, sister, or wife on one of these sites?

Top-level comments on this article: (3 total)Actually, quite the opposite is true. Movies today show less nudity and more violence. Here are just two examples: The 1981 movie "Clash of the Titans" was rated PG and showed full female breasts and backside. The only violence was depicted with claymation. The 1976 movie "The Man who Fell to Earth" shows plenty of nudity and sex: a woman almost inserting a penis into her mouth, it was only rated R.However; on mainstream television it is possible to show realistic decapitation: In an episode of "Legend of the Seeker", a monster crashes through a window and immediately decapitates a person, the head rolls into frame. So is there really an issue with nudity, the natural state of a person? Or is showing heads and limbs being severed, people getting gunned down, various explosions, etc... more acceptable?I do believe that the violence you reference is not in the topic or realm of this article. Perhaps Steven will write about the effects of violence on children in his next article?
Thanks for writing this article. I do agree that children do need to be monitored and supervised. I also agree that there is no need for CHILDREN to have a cell phone that is anything more than a cell phone, unless that child has a job and pays for the phone themselves.
Fantastic article! Nearly ever movie you see now has nudity in it, and practically is pornography, not to mention all of the sexual violence. The younger generation does watch these movies, and without proper supervision are effected by the images they see. I found this through browsing articles, thankfully. I clicked on it because I assumed you'd be some pervert, and was about to tell you what I thought when I realized that your article had this title for a reason. I give this article a full rating, I'm glad I found it.
