Twilight New Moon Opens This Past Weekend- Was It Worth the Wait?

So! I went to opening night of the new Twilight movie, New Moon, this weekend. Perhaps you've heard of it. This movie made almost 75 million dollars in the first 24 hours in theatres. The books are an international sensation, and they have girls of all ages oohing and aughing over two of the main character Edward and Jacob. I waited in line forever (even though I had pre-bought the tickets) and walked a half-mile for this movie. The question remains, was it worth it?

To answer we have to look at the movie and the characters. Don't worry there will be no big spoilers in this article! The series is about vampires. More than that though it is a love story about a girl, Bella who meets a vampire named Edward and the two fall in love. You can imagine the difficulties in this situation when he loves this girl with all his heart but physically just wants her as a snack. His being a vampire puts her in constant jeopardy not just from him but his "family" and other vampires that are also just looking for a snack. Her best friend is a Native American named Jacob. Jacob knows that Edward is a vampire. The two do not get along because not only is Jacob in love with Bella but also he is a Werewolf. Werewolves being natural enemies of vampires, this of course causes many problems.

It sounds like a typical vampire movie, but it turns into just a teen flick full of attractive characters. There really isn't much of a story to it. I remember when vampires were scary creatures ore the night. They were dark and mysterious. They were sexy not because they were "hot" but because they were dangerous. Maybe my opinions of Vampires has been tainted by the like of Dracula and the vampire Lestat, but the sunlight is supposed to be harmful to vampires not turn them into jewelry.

If however you're looking for a family friendly movie I will give it a thumbs up. The language is minimal, the violence is not graphic, and the acting is good. It is more a story about being a teenager and being helplessly in love than a vampire flick. The director s and actor all did a good job of telling the story and I will defiantly go see the next episode, Twilight- Eclipse, coming out in June of 2010. So, to answer my above Question, yes I think it was worth it to see this movie.

Just one word of warning for you Guys out there the girls will swoon over the two male leads so if you are the jealous type this might not be a date night movie.
