My religious beliefs hold that as the saying goes" Jesus is the reason for the season". Christmas is a celebration of the birth of the messiah. It is also a season of family. I was watching television last night and heard someone say that being alone on Christmas meant no one loves you. This may or may not be true but it got me thinking about my own family. I would like to share them with you, but wait all I have to say may not be all you expect.
My family, at lest in my life, starts with my Grandparents. I call them Granny and Papa on my mother's side and Grandmother and Granddaddy on my father's side. They are all remarkable people. My Granny was the first licensed female barber in our hometown. She cut hair for years until a shoulder injury forced her to retire. My Papa was a soldier in the Army during WWII. When he came home, he worked as a bookkeeper for many years. My Grandmother worked as transcriptionist until she retired while Granddaddy spent time in the Navel Air Corps then as a civilian pilot for many years. He is a preacher still even though official retired by the church. He also writes for several newspapers in Tennessee. All together they gave birth to my parents along with five uncles who in turn produced two brothers, two sisters, eight cousins, and myself, who have thus far given a total of six Great-grandchildren. I have a big wonderful family. They have each in some way shaped me into the man I am today.
I would like to tell you of two more of my family' members, Roy and Pork chop. They were not born to any of the people I've told you about so far. Yet they are as close to me as any of my brothers. We have known each other for about ten years. Roy is an American Indian and looks every bit the part. He is one of the most selfless people I know often giving every dime he owns to others even if it means spending the night in his car because he doesn't have the money for gas to get him home from work. Roy is quiet and reserved. People often don't know how to take him because he is so shy. He sometimes seems standoffish. Pork chop is quite the opposite. He is outgoing and has never met a stranger. He often doesn't realize that he is that way and often interrupts people at inappropriate times because he wants to tell them something. We have been through a lot over the past decade, moves, job loss, and even problems with drugs and alcohol. We remain best friends and I don't know where my life would be with out them in it.
Finally, I would like to tell you about another family'. That is the family of writers here at SearchWarp.com. This is as diverse and spread out group as there is, but we all have a "common progenitor", a real love of writing. We write about politics, the movies, life, love, and I have even seen articles about what kind of bathing suit you should wear when you're pregnant! The point is that we all can write about what we are feeling. If you have a problem, searchwarp is there to help. By way of the Q & A section you can ask the thoughts opinions, or advice of other "warpies". We are a family. We can be a bit odd sometimes but let's face it that's what makes familyfamily.
