On Monday, Republican Chairman Michael S. Steele said that Democrats were "thumbing their nose and flipping the bird to the American people." Steele also said in a conference call with reporters, "I intend to have my foot on the throats of the Democrats on this issue and hold them accountable." Democrats seeking reelection in 2010, he warned, "can look for their pink slips." The latest Rasmussen Reports weekly tracking update shows that 41% of voters nationwide favor the bill and 55% are opposed. Those figures are essentially unchanged from a week ago. This is the fifth straight week with support for the legislation between 38% and 41%. Among senior citizens, the group most likely to use the health care system, just 33% are in favor while 60% are opposed. Polling released last week showed that 57% of voters say that passing nothing would be preferable to passing the current legislation. Most voters, some 54%, say they will be worse off if the bill passes.
This is not just about healthcare. This is about the fabric that makes up this great nation. If we allow them to say, "we don't care what you want about this", what is to keep them from saying it about other issues in the future? Next time, maybe it will be a population ban saying that you can only have so many children, forcing you to kill any extras'. How about an income ceiling saying you are only allowed so much because we have to give to others that don't make as much. After all everyone should get an equal piece of the pie, right? This bill not only raises taxes on an already overburdened society, but also undermines everything that once made our nation great.
This is a call to action! If you want to see our country turned completely away from the principles of our founding fathers, do nothing. If you want to see America restored to the proud democracy it once was. Call you representatives and tell them to vote against this bill because the American people DO NOT want it. Tell them if they vote to pass this bill we will vote them out of office. Do not be silent about this!!!! This is too important to just let go. Who is with me?
